Subject:Limit to number of elements in an xQuery Author:Lance Faig Date:24 Aug 2010 04:02 PM
Is there any kind of size limit on the source, (or left side file) in an xQuery? We use an xQuery to convert and combine several pipe delimited text files into an XML file. We created a CONV files for each text file, then reference those files in an xQuery, resulting in a very large XML file. One of the files is missing the data from its 2nd to last element. When we run the conversion for this file, the data appears correctly, but when we run the xQuery that uses the conv, an empty tag is show for the element.
This file contains about 435 elements. The pipe delimited file has records of varying length, and the first record contains the field names used by the conversion. It is usually the longest record, 8310 characters long. I started removing some elements from the pipe delimited file and it seems like once I get it down to a certain length, the data appears in the field. Seems like it worked when I removed enough to make the first record around 8286 characters.
