Thomas WnukSubject: Comparing databases and XML.

I would like to compare business data in my Oracle data base with data in XML documents. Can I do that with XQuery? What would be the best solution for that?
Or do I have to make an aplication and access data with XQuery and SQL API?

Hi Thomas,<br> <br> I think there are various approaches to what you are trying to accomplish.<br> <br> For an XQuery based approach, you will have to use XQuery implementations, like DataDirect XQuery, to access data in relational databases. And of course, you can use XQuery also to manipulate any XML sources. <br> <br> Based on the format and size of data in your XML data source and in the Oracle database, you can do the comparison in memory or on disk.<br> <br> Regards<br> - Srini

Hi Thomas,

I should correct my last statement -

DataDirect XQuery (DDXQ) can push part fo the query back to the relation database server and materialize only a small part into the client, the one needed in query itself.

For large files DDXQ works in streaming fashion so the input data is scanned rather the entirely loaded in memory.

The link http://www.datadirect.com/products/xquery/index.ssp has more info on DDXQ
