MySQL Connector/J is a JDBC-3.0 Type 4 driver, which means that is pure Java, implements version 3.0 of the JDBC specification, and communicates directly with the MySQL server using the MySQL protocol. (see http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/connector-j.html)
The above combination maybe solves the connectivity problem for those who don’t want ODBC.

Stylus Studio v2007 rel 2 doesn't support SequeLink anymore. The coming v2008 version later this fall will expose native support for MySQL, thanks to the bundled DataDirect XQuery 3.1 component.
