Monte HansenSubject: Bug: Built-In XSL Processor and xsl:variable
Author: Monte Hansen

I have a stylesheet with the following snippet, which fails to name the variable. The processor fails to catch the missing required name attribute.

<xsl:variable select="className">
<xsl:if test="position() mod 2">StaticFlat</xsl:if>
</xsl:variable>

Hi Monte,

Which XSLT processor you are running?

Which Stylus Studio version?

Thank you

Whoops. Produced w/the SS Builtin Processor. I don't read the specs much, but Apache 2.7/Saxon 8.8/8.9/MSXML3-6 enforced the name attribute constraint for xsl:variable elements.

SS Version 2007 R2 Build 894d

This seems to be a problem in general. It seems fairly loose in that SS builtin processor doesn't validate elements against matching schema. For instance, I accidently put a title element in an xsl:value-of tag, and it didn't complain (until rolled it into production which uses different transormers).
