SQL Server XML Tools

Stylus Studio is a must have tool for SQL Server developers and DBA's, or anyone doing work with the popular Microsoft database product because we provide the most comprehensive tool-kit for directly accessing and working with the relational tables in both SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 using standard XML technologies like XQuery, SQL/XML, and ADO. Our SQL Server tools are so popular that Stylus Studio was recently won the prestigeous SQL Server Magazine Readers Choice award. In this tutorial we'll show you how to create, read, update, delete or do anything with your SQL Server tables as XML. In this tutorial we'll show you how to automate all of your with SQL Server tasks that are even remotely related to XML, thereby making your job a lot easier for you!

SQL Server and XQuery

With Stylus Studio you can access SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 using standard W3C XQuery technologies! But wait — how is this possible, you ask? — after all, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 doesn't even support XQuery, and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 provides only limited support of XQuery. It's possible through our support for using DataDirect XQuery, (a high-speed Java component that enables XQuery access on SQL Server). Now, all of your database tables can be made to look like XML — and no, you don't have to use those various SQL Server XML data types. Getting started is easy start by downloading and installing Stylus Studio (A development version of DataDirect XQuery is bundled with Stylus Studio), then create a new XQuery file by selecting File -> New -> XQuery File. XQuery can be used to query either XML files or collections, which are abstract containers of data which are implemented by the XQuery processor, for example, using DataDirect XQuery you can access relational database tables as collections.

Visually Design SQL Server Schemas

With SQLXML 3.0, Microsoft includes XSD Mapping Schemas, an extension to the W3C XML Schema specification that allows an XML developer to specify how data should be mapped between relational tables (in SQL Server 2000) and XML documents. Competitors include support for SQLXML XSD Mapping Schemas in the graphical XML Schema editor.
