A revealing point is that once one gets away from the 'bloids like Groklaw or the dedicated topic bloids, this isn't being covered extensively by the legitimate press. The business world is largely unconcerned knowing that they will continue to buy commercial systems and that the decisions about the standards are left to the vendors who understand them. Were it not for the political efforts to rig the markets ahead of time in favor of one keiretsu or another, little notice would have been taken at all. Operationally, it is better for the standards processes if they continue to be somewhat under the radar of the bloggers. One may have to question the need for transparency in these. DIS 29500 would have been accepted 25-6 it seems: why would they bribe if they didn't need to? This looks like a beat-up. Appropriate to bring up Karl Rove though, it was just what I was thinking...
