Re: To namespace or not to Namespace ....
David,

Make your check out to ... ;^)

No, seriously, no bribes are needed. Please do one (but
preferably not both) of the following:

* The preferred alternative is to file a new bug on the W3C's
public  Bugzilla system (http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/  choosing
"XPath / XQuery / XSLT", then Component = "XQuery 1.1", then Version
= "Working Drafts".

* If filing a bug is infeasible for some reason, then send a message
to the public XPath/XQuery/XSLT comments mailing list
(public-qt-comments@w3.org).

In either case, what is wanted is a well-written,
carefully-articulated, example-driven note that explains the problem
from an application developer point of view and also (at least)
acknowledges the cost-benefit and backwards-compatibility concerns.

I promise you that I'll put such a bug report or note onto the agenda
of the next XML Query WG meeting or the one immediately following that one.

Hope this helps,
     Jim
