We notice them when people don't follow them: - bad indenting - using unconventional namespace prefixes - putting attributes in a namespace without good justification - encoding information into element names that should be in attributes - using mixed content for data when the content is meaningless without the tags - using meaningless element names - attaching meaning to things that should be irrelevant, like comments or CDATA delimiters Michael Kay http://www.saxonica.com/
