Huh? If anything, Ajax use is likely to make things
more visible. It's just a client accessing content
(which often is XML, but may well be json, html, csv,
or any format one wants) using standard HTTP protocol.
Just like most web services.

In fact, Ajax usage is likely to increase amount of
data accessible via web services. Since access is done
by clients, that almost by definition are insecure
(they run on someone else's system, and there's always
a way to write an alternate client), these interfaces
are as good as public. However, they need not be as
well documented as 'pure' web services designed to be
externally usable.
