Title: RE: Xml is _not_ self describing

Do you know if there are "tools" or something, to convert from ASN.1 to XML schema?

One of the nice things about ASN.1 is that instead of (say) an XML schema
you specify an "abstract syntax", which is basically a data model, and
then use any of a library of "transfer syntaxes" which map from that
abstract syntax to strings of bits.

There are many binary transfer syntaxes, and textual transfer syntaxes are
being added due to the recent wave of interest in them triggered by XML.
