I am afraid that just big companies can
specify notations which will become successful because they will
also provide engines to process them and because, then, people
will be eager to announce that they are experts for them...
Anyway, I consider that the adaptative output specified for XSLT
and XQuery Serialization 3.1
( https://www.w3.org/TR/xslt-xquery-serialization-31/#adaptive-output)
can easily be extended to become a great notation, usable for both
input and output by an XQuery engine, for mixing maps, arrays,
sequences, atomic values and XML trees.
