Roger-- Do you mean data is *important*, or do you literally mean it is *primary*. If the latter, then something else, say X, is secondary. What's an example of X (maybe there are many of them)? At the same time, "data is primary" creates for me a picture of solipsist computer programs: they just sit there "processing", nothing going in, and nothing coming out. --Frank On Mar 31, 2014, at 3:00 PM, "Costello, Roger L." <costello@mitre.org> wrote: > Hi Folks, > > Long ago Michael Kay said something like this: > > Data is primary. > > Why is data primary? > > I want to compile a list of reasons for why data is primary. The aircraft collects data from various sensors -- GPS, VOR, DME, etc. -- and that data is then integrated to determine the position of the aircraft. In some automated flight management systems the position data is used to automatically adjust the pitch, roll, and level of the aircraft. > > Thanks! > > /Roger >
