I thought perhaps some of the elders on this list might be able
to contribute.
Long long ago, Jon Bosak talked of how it might be good to have a grad student research the early XML days and tell the story from an external perspective. There are all kinds of confidentiality issues there that I don't think have expired, but it remains at least a pleasant dream.

This community group is different, but perhaps such things can take root through it.
