so you focus on different XSLT file refernced by the XML file.

I don't have this at hand for my previous example, but the stylesheet can
be
embedded in the XML file. Or the data can be embedded in a stylesheet by
".xsl.xml" technique from [1]  (that works on all BIG5 browsers).

Would you agree that this is an application then?


Even the external references to .gif files can be internalized by
<img src="data:image/gif;base64,..."/> as in this example from [2]:
http://stamm-wilbrandt.de/en/xsl-list/n-queens/n-queens.internalImages.xsl.xml

So is this an application?
Everything is contained in one XML file, data+code, no external references.

If you write an application in XSLT, that doesn't make XSLT itself an
application.
