Do all modern XML Schema validators and XSLT processors support > XML 1.1? You need to define "modern". If you define it as supporting XML 1.1, then clearly the answer is yes. Note that technically schema 1.0 and xslt 1 are not compatible with xml 1.1 as it allows element names that are not allowed by the xpath and schema grammar as written (because that references the XML 1.0 rules). But then XML 1.0 made an incompatible change _in place_ at edition 5 so changing the characters allowed in element names. So in practice it is best not to try to take too literal reading of the fine print here and just hope that your processor does "the sensible thing" for some definition of sensible. > 3. Why isn't everyone using XML 1.1? Because the benefit of using XML is using a shared syntax and if you use XML 1.1 when no one else is that benefit is diminished. > 4. Is there any reason for not using XML 1.1? see above > 5. Do you use XML 1.1? no (but I do use some xml 1.0 systems that use xml 1.0 5th edition which is most of the xml 1.1 changes, but not the numeric references for control points.
