Well if the object makes use of the extended set of Name characters then 
it depends on whether the xml 1.0 clients are XML 1.0 5th edition or 
not. If not, there is essentially no way to map the elements. If the 
1.00 clients are updated to 5th edition then the main disconnect is the 
control characters and there you just need to say what you do, eg map 
them all to unicode's replacement character U+FFFD.
