I'm hoping this helps spread the word and rekindle discussion of MicroXML and related developments. "Parts of the XML community have always grumbled that XML is difficult to understand and process. XML is fundamentally complex, for a variety of historical reasons, and people have proposed simplified versions for over a decade. HTML5 has become a threat to some of XML's most basic tenets, causing much discussion. From those discussions, MicroXML has emerged. MicroXML, a backward-compatible simplification of XML, is significant because of the stature of some of the individuals involved and because of the timing. John Cowan has already developed a MicroXML parser in Java and other related tools. In this article, learn about MicroXML and its technical differences from XML 1.x and related standards."
