Perhaps there were better ways to have made XML work with his

I read this, and I decided not to comment, because there is not much nice to say.
Goddess knows XML has its problems but in effect this guys is saying "I designed an XML app using XML in a very dumb way, and the app disappointed me. The fault must lie with XML".
I don't think he's saying that at all...his own words: "In the next sections, I discuss how XML fails for Big Data because of its unnatural form..."
He states that XML fails for "Big Data", not that XML is at fault for his mistakes. He's (apparently) learned from his mistakes, so we should really be nodding our heads in encouragement of the lessons learned.
OK. I accept that. I did only skim the
article (hard to read without my eyes watering when he starts talking
about the sorts of PERL hackery he started to employ). Yes more people
do need to learn these lessons, but I'm not convinced people will learn
the right lessons from that article. I've already heard a lot of chatter
interpreting the blog posting as "it's all XML's fault".
