Perhaps by posing a question.

"To what extent do developers in a certain space embrace or ignore the XML
vocabularies that are applicable to their problem domain?"

The reasons for RSS being on my list include it's pervasiveness in the web
community:

1. Numerous publications and web masters routinely publish an RSS feed
2. Many web masters routinely consume an RSS feed for their site's content
3. Search engines such as Google and Yahoo support RSS for identifying video
content
... and so on.

If the problem domain is music, for example, one might ask how many applications
have been written, or are being written, that support MusiML, ChordML, MEI or
other music markup languages.
