The panel members will discuss the convergence of XML and SQL, object databases, querying documents, parallel architectures and more. Don Chamberlin, Dana Florescu and Jim Melton are members of the XML Query Working Group so there is discussion of querying XML documents. Panelists: Rick Cattell is an author, Distinguished Engineer at Sun, founder of ODMG and the original Enterprise Java architect. Don Chamberlin is an author, ACM Fellow, and co-inventor of SQL and XQuery. Dana Florescu is CTO of XQRL and co-editor of several W3C specifications, including XQuery. Jim Gray is an author, Distinguished Engineer at Microsoft, and ACM Turing Award winner. Jim Melton is an author of several database texts, standards architect at Oracle, and the editor of the ISO/IEC SQL specification.
