The only question is who and when... and whether it will be standardized or proprietary, patent encumbered or not, vendor-neutral or not. Innovation doesn't stop because it's inconvenient for the definers of the status quo. XML can evolve in the direction of being less "annoying" ... or it will be replaced by something that *is* less annoying whether we like it or not.
