That looks really odd, so I should clarify before my authors beat me up.  

This book got me over my initial gag reaction to a subject which at
first glance looked horrible but which turned out largely nice once I
got up the steep curve at the start.  

I'm quite pleased with the other books I've edited, but have to admit
that I still marvel at how hard it can be to nail down what a spec
really means. That generates real frustration, even when the authors are
fantastic.  And some books covered subjects I knew from the outset would
be enjoyable... I do like some things!
