Could return pictures, a written description of those memories, etc..

Could return an application/smell object that recreates the smell
at your end (with appropriate equipment).  Or something as simple
as text describing the smell, or comparing it to other smells.

RFC 2396 says;

"A Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) is a compact string of characters
for identifying an abstract or physical resource."
