Hi all, I am fairly new to Java and XML having learnt the basic skills in my spare time but wish to move into a JAVA/XML development environement. I wish to build a Java Application that can take advantage of XML in order to have something demonstratable when applying for positions. I have decided to build a XML-CV Application using Java, which I have spent the past month or so learning how to use the SAX API, and working with the DOM. I have come across XML Resume, a DTD with XSL and CSS files that allows one to write an XML document and have it output it 3 different formats in 3 different languages. I liked the idea as I am working on my CV at the present time with a view to the future. I would like my application to allow Users to graphically construct a document but was wondering if I would be better off using a Schema rather than a DTD and if the Java API's are able to work with the Schema's. I work at home using XMLSpy and recently begun using the graphical Schema designer and feel the data typing would be beneficial. I also envisage the application being useful for employers as well as job-seekers by implementing the ability to sort, highlight and compare CV's sent to the employer, and categorise them etc. Whilst the job-seeker will be able to choose a format as well as XML to have their CV. Job-Seekers will be able to download Langauge files, and format files when added from a web page, with users able to submit language templates for production of various language files, as well as XSL files for formatting etc. I would be interested to hear from anyone who feels this is a viable application, and if I am approaching it from the correct angle.
