Until you mentioned this I hadn't put all of it together but on taking a
further look at the structures part of the schema recommendation I came across

        http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlschema-1/#PSVI_contributions

which is enough to clarify what PSVI means, at least to me.

I came across this in the past but couldn't make much sense of it primarily
because I found it before reading the infoset spec or noticing the PSVI
contributions sections of the schema recommendation. Now it makes more sense
and of course launches a new set of questions which I'm sure many have heard
before. :)

So what exactly is the consesus opinion of the W3C or members of xml-dev as to
how the PSVI data of a document is attached to it to avoid revalidation on
subsequent requests for PSVI data if the document has not been modified since
the last request?
