Hi David, > Didier replies: > So, if I understand well, these parser automatically turn on the validation > process when a DOCTYPE is encountered in the file. You have to manually turn > off validation with an command line option. Is that right? I'll enter that > info in my notebook. David said: Wrong. Non-validating processors can also include the external DTD subset (it's optional for them, not forbidden). Didier replies: Is this because a DTD can contain external entities declarations and because of this fact, the parser has to read the DTD to resolve these external entities? So, to be more precise, can we say that the DTD can be considered part of the document, expecially if the DTD may contains external entities declarations. As Steve pointed that out, if the standalone="yes" attribute/value is included in the xml declaration, then what the parser does if external entities are present in the XML document and that these external entities are declared in the DTD? Are these external entities unresolved? Cheers Didier PH Martin ---------------------------------------------- Email: martind@n...
