There are three good reasons to use XML: 1. A solid business and technological case for XML over the other alternatives. 2. Experimental research. 3. Pure aesthetic joy. I use XML for #3, but I insist that my customers use it only for #1 or #2; if not, there is the danger of 4. Hype which is the technological equivalent of deficit spending.
