Manikandan SurendranathSubject: stripping namespace declaration
Author: Manikandan Surendranath
Date: 07 Jun 2005 01:31 AM
Below is a sample xml. I would like to strip the namespace declaration xmlns:dctm. Given after that is the xslt I wrote to remove it. But I could not succeed. I see that xmlns is being processed by "node()" template and not by "@*" template. Is namespace declaration not considered to be attribute? Any help?

XML
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<ROOT xmlns:dctm="http://www.documentum.com">
<FRUITS>
<FRUIT>Grape</FRUIT>
<FRUIT>Orange</FRUIT>
<FRUIT>Apple</FRUIT>
</FRUITS>
</ROOT>

<?xml version='1.0'?>
<xsl:stylesheet exclude-result-prefixes="dctm" version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:dctm="http://www.documentum.com" >

<xsl:template match="/">
<xsl:apply-templates select="*" />
</xsl:template>

<xsl:template match="@*">
<xsl:if test="name(self::node())!='xmlns:dctm'">
<xsl:copy />
</xsl:if>
</xsl:template>

<xsl:template match="node()">
<xsl:copy>
<xsl:apply-templates select="@*|node()"/>
</xsl:copy>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>
