Gordon BriggsSubject: Linking to RDBMS to Application
Author: Gordon Briggs
Date: 07 Mar 2007 06:21 PM
I am looking at developing solutions for clients with tools such as Flex and / or Tibco GI. These systems require the data to be provided either via web services or via xml files. Can Stylus provide me a 1 stop solution in linking my back end database (SQL Server and Oracle at present and maybe MySQL moving forward) to these front end tools via a web service and if so how.

I can see the tool can allow me to create xml outputs from my data. Does it help in making this a web service and if so how.. sorry but im new to this web service lark and need guidance whilst i trial..

anyone done similar sorts of solutions??.

Thanks in Advance to all.

Gordy

Hi Gordon,

Stylus Studio is XML IDE therefore a tool for XML developers to design/test XML, XSLT, XQuery, XML Schema, etc.

In addition Stylus Studio can be used as Web Service client
http://www.stylusstudio.com/ws_tester.html

To implement the server side of your service you will need to use general purpose IDE like Eclipse, NetBeans, JBuilder; that's really depend on which server technology you are planning to deploy.

http://www.netbeans.org/kb/50/jaxws20.html

Our DataDirect XQuery Java component can be used to implement a Web Service that encapsulates various data sources including relational data.

Hope this helps
