Forrest CarletonSubject: JRE init failed to load relational DB file
Author: Forrest Carleton
Date: 31 Mar 2005 10:25 PM
I just installed stylus studio and when I attempt to open a file I receive errors:
JRE init failed to load relational DB file, same message for XML
converters amd Berkley DB XML.

I have downloaded and intalled the latest version of java from Sun.
SDK se 1.4.2_05

And went through Tools - options - App settings - java Vertual machine
Auto-detect.
No progress.
Any help would be appreciated.

Forrest,

What do you see if you click Help -> about near Java Virtual Machine?

check also if an older JVM is present in the path.

Ivan

Ivan,
In help about - about Stylus Studio I notice:
Java Runtime Environment initialization failed. I did not see a referance to a Near vertual machine.

Try to change the Java debugger port number, it could be in conflit with another service

go to Tools -> Option -> App. Setting -> JVM -> Parameters and change
address=8000 to address=9000 then re-start Stylus Studio

to verify which ports are busy lisntening type netstat -a in a DOS command

Did you reboot after installing the JVM?

Could you verify that the JVM has been installed successfully in you system?
type java -version in the DOS box

Could you attach a screenshot of your JVM options settings?

Thank You
Ivan

Ivan,
Runing java from the cmd prompt: java -version
returned version1.4.2_05
JRE build 1.4.2_5-b04
hotspot 1.4.2_5-b04

The JVM_option is attached.
I will reboot my PC now and see if there is any effect.

Ok now is clear, the Runtime library is pointing to something bogus
Change it to the following value should fix the problem

c:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\bin\client\jvm.dll

Ivan,
I searched and found: C:\j2sdk1.4.2_05\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll
After updating the JVM options stylus Studio opens fine.

Thanks,
FC

I have this same problem, just having installed Stylus Studio 6.1 build 287e. The help / about window says JRE library not found. I've tried using "auto detect" in Tools/Options/App Settings/JVM, and I've also tried typing in the name of my home JDK directory (version 1.4.2). I do have JAVA_HOME set in my environment.

As soon as I try to open a file in StylusStudio I get the series of "Failed to load ... file system / Java Runtime Enviornment initialization failed" messages.

Take a look at: http://www.stylusstudio.com/configure_jre.html

Hope this helps,
