Mike could have directed you at his book, which is rather good:-)

The xslt (and xpath) specs are really quite readable, once you start.
Otherwise Dave Pawson's FAQ at http://www.dpawson.co.uk should have
links to most places (the zvon tutorials are probably what you want
to start with if you don't like reading the text of the spec)
