More readable:

  <img alt='foto di {nome}:{cognome}, alias {nick}, &lt;{mail}>'
       src='{@silouette}' />

For MSXML, there is msxsl.exe, see
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnxslgen/html/msxsl.asp

Maybe you should use a non browser dependent XSLT processor?
