W3C Schema profiling and risk analysis

schema profiling
This scenario has got to be familiar to some people: despite resistance to W3C Schemas, an organization gets dragged into the use of them because of some tool or application requirement. To minimize the problems of W3C schema use, they plan to develop a W3C Schema profile--that is, define a subset of W3C Schema features to be used within the organization.

So how do you develop this profile? One logical next step is a risk analysis that enumerates schema features and rates each for the trouble it could get people into. The UBL Naming and Design Rules Subcommittee (http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ubl/ndrsc) did something like this at http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ubl/ndrsc/input/bl-schema-features.htm.

Does anyone else know of such a profiling effort or of any similar risk analysis matrixes that are publicly available?

thanks,
