a)  How does the shop justify spending $15k on such a device?

b)  How do ask it if the anchovies are packaged in peanut oil, since you're
allergic to peanuts?

c)  Why use XML instead of an HTML form and a printer?

d)  How do you pay cash?

A reasonable conclusion then is that it's not economically viable, not that the
technology doesn't support it.

That's not exclusive to XML - concentrating on commercially viable opportunities
is the standard goal of pretty much any business.
