Ken GrossSubject: ProcessContents issue
Author: Ken Gross
Date: 02 May 2003 11:23 AM
In this example, the XML appears valid in Stylus Studio, but when I try to validate it an application it fails.

The actual message text in the failure is as follows:
---------------------------------------
Could not find schema information for the element 'D'. An error occurred at (1, 219).
Could not find schema information for the element 'E'. An error occurred at (1, 278).
---------------------------------------

However, as far as I can see the XML1.0 standard does not support these errors.
I would appreciate any information on why this might violate the standard.

Hi Ken,
I would say that the application is not properly supporting the xs:any
statement found in the schema.
Both the B and C elements are defined to have, as children, elements that
satisfy the schema particle {xs:any namespace="##any"
processContents="lax"}; this means that they can be in any namespace, and
they should be validated in a relaxed mode, meaning, "if you find a global
definition for the element, validate it, otherwise ignore it". So, the
application should not issue an error because a schema definition cannot be
found for D and E, as this is expected.

Hope this helps,

Alberto
