I can't get the Xerces or .NET validators to work. I tried creating even a simple one element schema and they both fail with errors that seem to imple they can't see the schema for schemas.


Here is the simple schema:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
<xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<xs:element name="Element-1"/>
</xs:schema>

Here is the error in Xerces:


Xerces Java 2 Validation Starting.
file:///d:/test3.xsd:2,56: (Error) cvc-elt.1: Cannot find the declaration of element 'xs:schema'.
Xerces Java 2 Validation Complete.

Here is the error in .NET

file:///d:/test3.xsd:3,6: Could not find schema information for the element 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema:element'. An error occurred at file:///d:/test3.xsd, (3, 6).
file:///d:/test3.xsd:3,17: Could not find schema information for the attribute 'name'. An error occurred at file:///d:/test3.xsd, (3, 17).

Trevor,

.NET and XercesJ do not validate XML Schemas automatically.

You can either use the built-in validator or XSV or validate an XML document instance that references your schema doing so will implicitly check the schema.
