<xsl:when test="not(preceding::*/@xlink:from = @xlink:from) and
following::*/@xlink:from = @xlink:from">

The file in question is largeish and the goal is to test for duplicates
@xlink:from

Any suggestions please

Hi Francisco,

Performance should improve using xsl:key.
Send me a small example of your xml, the expected result and i
will show how to do it.

Hi Francisco,
If I understood correctly, you would like to get the first element of the group.
The solution below should gain you speed.

<?xml version='1.0'?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"
xmlns:lb="http://www.xbrl.org/2003/linkbase">

<xsl:output method="xml" indent="yes"/>

<xsl:key name="from" match="lb:linkbase/lb:presentationLink/lb:presentationArc" use="@xlink:from"/>

<xsl:template match="/">
<root>
<xsl:for-each select="lb:linkbase/lb:presentationLink/lb:presentationArc[ generate-id(.) = generate-id(key('from', @xlink:from)[1]) ]">
<xsl:copy-of select="."/>
</xsl:for-each>
</root>

</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>

Thanks, it really speeds thing. However since you are so generous what
I would really like is to have all the @xlink:to contributing
to the @xlink:from without going thru the whole file

Now that would be very kind of you.

Regards
