Lee HumphriesSubject: Error attempting to call a Web Service
Author: Lee Humphries

I've made frequent use of the Web Service Call within Stylus without issue.
Just now however, whenever I type in a new WSDL URL I get a dialog with the message "Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.x is not installed properly".

I've recently upgraded MSXML 4 to SP2, although I believe that I had successfully called a web service since that time.

I've also directly registered the MSXML4.dll, using regsvr32, for other purposes.

Hi Lee,

I am running MSXML 4 SP2 without problems.
Could you try to re-install it using the package from msdn[1] then reboot?

Hi Ivan,

Actually its behaviour was a little more unusual than that (yep, thankfully now past tense).

Now that we have another day and my machine has been rebooted the problem's gone away (hopefully).

However, yesterday I found that I could get the initial call to the Web Service URL to succeed if I deinstalled and reinstalled MSXML4 sp2 while Stylus was running. However, if I shut down Stylus and restarted it again later I had to go through the same procedure with MSXML4.

Regards, Lee
