I have noticed that the project file changes every time I open up an .xslt file that is updateable. This becomes a problem when the project file is kept under source control. It forces us to check out the project file, save it, then check it in again, even though we haven't changed the project explicitly.

Is there any way we can open stylesheets without changing the project file?

I've been able to reproduce the problem; working on that. A fix will be
available in the next 3.1 build (which we will make available next week)
and in 4.0 GA.
