Gerald NelsonSubject: suggestions for improvement
Author: Gerald Nelson

I have a suggestion and a question.

The suggestion is In the About stylus link to this webboard, it would be nice if the board popped up into a new window rather taking over one of the windows already open.

My question is why xsl:number is not supported.

That's probably a good idea; I'm adding a PCR for this.

>My question is why xsl:number is not supported.

Actually xsl:number is supported; the only limitation is that we don't
support the localization features of xsl:number (as stated in the release
notes), which means part of the 7.7.1 section of the specs:

[begin XSLT specs]
7.7.1 Number to String Conversion Attributes
....
When numbering with an alphabetic sequence, the lang attribute specifies
which language's alphabet is to be used; it has the same range of values as=
xml:lang [XML]; if no lang value is specified, the language should be
determined from the system environment. Implementers should document for
which languages they support numbering.
....
Here are some examples of conversion specifications:
· format="ア" specifies Katakana numbering
· format="イ" specifies Katakana numbering in the "iroha"= order
· format="๑" specifies numbering with Thai digits
· format="א" letter-value="traditional" specifies
"traditional" Hebrew numbering
· format="ა" letter-value="traditional" specifies= Georgian
numbering
· format="α" letter-value="traditional" specifies= "classical"
Greek numbering
· format="а" letter-value="traditional" specifies Old= Slavic
numbering
[end XSLT specs]

I guess "why" is because most users don't use this functionality of
xsl:number, also keeping into consideration that the Stylus Studio
processor has been engineered for development purposes, rather than for
deployment.

If you are hitting this limitation, let us know; we will raise the priority=
of the fix to this issue; if you are hitting another problem, then we need=
more details.

Thanks,
Minollo

I don't have any immediate need for xsl:number. I was looking around for a particular feature that I thought it might accomplish and ran across this in the documentation:
xsl:number
Not supported by either the Stylus Studio or DXE XSLT processor. If this instruction is in a stylesheet, you receive an error.

Another suggestion - the implementation of the track wheel functionality seems either inconsistent or missing (I haven't taken the time to tell which). I'm currently using home XP. When I click/hold the wheel nothing happens. When I roll the wheel in an xslt window the text scrolls as it should, but when I move the mouse over the preview window and scroll the text in the xslt window moves instead.

Can you point me to where in the documentation (of DXE, I guess) you found
such comment? It is clearly wrong; the right comment about xsl:number and
Stylus Studio is in the Stylus Studio release notes.

We'll look into it.
Thanks,
Minollo
