Paul BrownsmithSubject: Additions to opened XSLT files
Author: Paul Brownsmith
Date: 21 Aug 2001 08:58 AM
When opening an XSLT file, it appears to automatically add an xsl:ouput tag, that was previously not there. Removing the tag makes the file invalid - for what looks like no reason. Viewing the source I can see an opening:

xsl:output

element with a return character in front of it. I cannot do anything but leave the 'new' element in the document - which I dont want to do.
Thanks,
Paul

When using the 'Indent XML Tags' button, it also adds this element in this format:

<xsl:ouput/>

keeping it valid, clicking for a second time adds it in this format:

<xsl:output>

rendering it invalid without manually closing the tag.
Strange behaviour?
Paul.

Paul,
yes, we are aware of this problem; we discovered it yesterday during the
final Beta 1 sanity checks, but we have decided to leave it there for this
build as it didn't look like a show-stopper for a Beta 1 version.

We are fixing it.

Thanks,
Minollo

Will a fix for this be released soon?
Thanks,
Paul.

It depends on the issues that we will find in the next hours/days.
If we find any show-stopper for any customer, we will release a new build
(also containing the fix for your problem) in a matter of one or two days.

Otherwise, we would wait a couple of weeks from yesterday before making
another build available.

We are not considering your issue a critical show-stopper (you can still
use the application with some minor inconvenience); if that's not the case,
please let us know.

Thanks,
Minollo

At the moment, Stylus is not being used due to this problem.
It would mean re-visiting the XSLT's generated/edited since the bug appeared to remove the rogue element.
It also is making the test environment unstable - as we keep recieving

End tag 'xsl:stylesheet' does not match the start tag 'xsl:output'

Error messages.
Paul.

Ok, we'll raise priority on this. Look for a modified build later today or
this night.

3.1 Beta 1 build 57b is now available on:
http://download.exceloncorp.com/downloads/studio/iftw_beta/stylus%20studio.htm

It fixes the problem discussed here about xsl:output element handling.

Thanks for reporting this,
Minollo
