Hello,
I'm having some trouble getting Berkeley XML DB working with Stylus Studio ver. 6.1.287m. I've downloaded and used the Windows installer for version 2.1.8 on Windows XP.
During the installation I agreed to have the installer modify my CLASSPATH and PATH.
Now in Stylus Studio when I select open and attempt to select "Berkeley DB XML" I receive the following error:
com.stylusstudio.sleepycat.dbxml.DBXMLException: Two versions of Berkeley DB XML were found in the PATH and CLASSPATH
Please make sure there is only one before using the Berkeley DB XML adapter.
at com.stylusstudio.sleepycat.dbxml.DBXMLVersn.checkPATH(DBXMLVersn.java:75)
at com.stylusstudio.sleepycat.dbxml.DBXMLFileSystem.listRoots(DBXMLFileSystem.java:109)
My CLASSPATH is: C:\Program Files\Sleepycat Software\Berkeley DB XML 2.1.8\jar\dbxml.jar;C:\Program Files\Sleepycat Software\Berkeley DB XML 2.1.8\jar\db.jar
My PATH is: %SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared;C:\Program Files\ActivCard\ActivCard Gold\resources;c:\ant\bin;c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\bin;C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel;C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\Fire GL 3D Studio Max;C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\Fire GL Control Panel;C:\Program Files\Sleepycat Software\Berkeley DB XML 2.1.8\bin
I've tried various combinations of adding/removing/modifying things, but it seems that anytime I have both of the jar files in my classpath I get this message.
Any ideas on what may be wrong with my configuration are appreciated.
I've also noticed that here: http://www.stylusstudio.com/docs/v62/d_adv5.html#wp301927
there is no mention of version 2.1.8, additionally, comparing the DLL files I have to the list on this page shows that quite a few seem to be newer. Is version 2.1.8 supported?

Roger,
to be honest with you, we have seen limited interest in the Berkeley DB XML support in the past several months. That, of course, lowers the priority of supporting more recent Berkeley DB XML versions; we will do that, but after other higher priority tasks have been completed.
If anyone else out there is interested in support for Berkeley DB XML 2.1.8, this is a good time to speak out!

Hi Minollo,
Thanks for your reply.
I am mortified!! Earlier this year and last year Stylus Studio made a big song and dance about Berkely DB and there were links back and forth between web sites. And as a result i confidently based my course on the two inter-operating! And now they don't.
Well, such is life I suppose. But all is not lost as I can still use the great XQuery engine in Stylus to develop Xqueries and then run them on XML DB outside of Stylus.
Let me know if anyone else uses Berkely XML DB which is A REALLY GREAT XML DATABASE EVERYONE!

I'd like to add my voice to the call for Stylus Studio support for the latest version of Berkeley XML DB. Being able to work with native XML databases through a GUI rather than programmatically or from a command line was a major reason I purchased Stylus Studio.
And, perhaps someone can correct me, but I could only find a .zip version of Berkeley XML DB 2.0.9, which I then had to build, whereas, version 2.1.8 comes with a proper installer. So, getting up and running with Stylus Studio and version 2.1.8 would be much less painful.
For interest, I notice IBM will be providing native XML support in their next version of DB2. With Big Blue in the market place these little things should be sorted out.

I am currently running Berkeley DB XML 2.2.8 and Stylus Enterprise Edition 3, Build 377o -- any idea when Stylus Studio will support this technology?
The link to Stylus Studio from the Berkeley DB XML web site promising integration is, shall we say, a little misleading.
I notice that Google is based on Berkeley DB (OK, not DB XML but you can't get a better vindication of the database engine that DB XML uses) also the USAF, among others, uses Berkeley DB XML...

Thanks for the quick response but I don't have a licence for version 2006, only for version 6 (Enterprise) + 30 Professional licences. I was given to understand that the Enterprise version supported DB XML (I realise that the Professional version doesn't). I will not be able to pay for the upgrade as my budget was spent buying the licences in the summer.

I need to know what version of Berkely DB XML is supported by Stylus Studio 2007 Enterprise Release 2. This is the version I am using and the Berkeley DB XML I have is ver 2.3.10.
