The implementation of the translate() function does not gybe with Xalan's:

Which works under Xalan. But in Stylus 2.0 we have to add all possible symbols and characters for the translation to work.

I tried passing the input
(ticker)a_b $$@@%xp)_+(/ticker) through your example template, and Stylus output the same text with alphabetic characters capitalized. Can you be more specific about the problem you're seeing? What exact Stylus version are you running?

My bad.

I asked the developer who found this about the problem and he said that he was working with version 1.0 of Stylus.

I tried his and your examples in 2.0 and they worked.
