It doesn't generally work like that. Anyone can start a thread, but requests to have the last word on a topic (which is, in essence, what you have done here) are, at best, ignored and, at worst, inflammatory. Once a topic has been raised, and as long as it is within the scope of the list, it will live as long as people are interested in posting.

If you are no longer interested in a thread, simply drop out of it.
