Are the MDBServiceDesc elements siblings (In the original document?)
if not, they presumavly are not siblings in $services either (depending
on whether  System.Xml.XPath.XPathNodeIterator is making copies of teh
selected nodes, or just indexing into the existing tree.

try adding  xsl:value-of select="generate-id(..)" somewhere in that
for-each loop (just as a debugging tool, if you get different ids they
elements have differnt parents so are not siblings
