Mike,
SAXON did improve the performance more than 10 times comparing to
XALAN. I wonder why people are still using XALAN. Are there any specific
areas where XALAN performs better than SAXON??

I use Xalan because I have found bugs in Saxon that Dr. Kay has told me he will not fix, and I do not feel comfortable working on that code base myself. Xalan is a supported and maintained product. All the bugs I have found in Xalan have been fixed, and I am confident that any I find in the future will also be fixed. For me, a correct, reliable implementation trumps speed.
