Yeah thats right and there is no pattern match Im trying to achieve over here which is why I couldnt understand the need for regular expressions here.

The correct solution for that is to use the compare() function, specifying a
case-blind collation. Unfortunately collation names are processor dependent,
so you may prefer the simpler (but less accurate) approach of testing
lower-case($A) = lower-case($B).



I have achieved my comparison using the compare() function although Im curious to know whether there is a solution using the match() function and what it is.
