convert letter
Suppose you have variable $name. Use the translate function and the substring fuction to change the case of the first character.

<xsl:value-of select="translate(substring($name, 1,1),'abc ...', 'ABC ... )" />

Note: The elipses represent the remainder of the alphabet. You will have to type them in full.

Subject: capitalizing the first letter of a string

Hi all,
I know that the translate function can change the case for strings. How to
use it please for capitalizing the first letter of a string (stored in a
variable) ?
thanks.
