DaveP kindly pointed out to me that a paragraph I wrote in this thread
yesterday could be read as a slight against IBM's DITA. This was not
intentional. On the contrary, from what I have seen (and my close look was
at an early version, two years ago now if not three!), it is an *excellent*
body of work....
For those of you who don't know, the "Darwin Information Typing Architecture" is an XML/XSLT framework for the handling of information sets highly integrated by topic, created and managed in XML and distributed either on the web or in other media. It's designed for modular technical documentation, but could probably be adapted to other kinds of information as well.... see http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/xml/library/x-dita3/.
