It could work for your purpose, and you could add as many .addParameter calls (and matching <xsl:param> elements) as necessary, but that would constrain you to a set number of external xml files. I think a better solution would be to add (dynamically) an xml section to your source document containing URI references to the other xml files, and then use document() in your xsl to access them.
